Microsoft Office

Installation of Microsoft Office should be done prior to installing HotDocs. As with any new installation, close all running programs prior to installing. After installation is complete, run Microsoft Update and install all required updates.

HotDocs

Install Microsoft Word prior to installing HotDocs.

As when installing any new software, you should close all software prior to a new installation. HotDocs cannot install if Microsoft Word or any other word processor is running. If you receive an error message that Microsoft is running; however, the only program running is Outlook please close it. Most likely, you are using Microsoft Word to edit your e-mail and Outlook has an instance of WINWORD.EXE running in the background.

Login to "Member Section" located in the menu above where you will have access to the software you purchased as well as future updates and upgrades.

DIYD Legal Software

Installation, updates, and upgrades of DIYD Legal Software may be done with other software running. However, if you are using HotDocs please close any document you are assembling.

Receive your login information:

Once you have made your purchase you will receive an email with member login and password. This can take up to one (1) business hour. See Contact to view business hours.

Start Installation

Once logged in to the "Member Section", you will have access to download the installation file that you purchased as well as future updates to include any upgrades to newer versions released during your membership period.

Step 1.

Double click your installation file, select run or you may save it to your computer if installing on numerous computers. Your purchase is licensed for all computers within your business.

Step 2.

Once the installation begins, you will come to the screen below.  Select the OK command button unless you plan a custom install.

Depending on the speed of your computer, the installation can take a few minutes:

Once the installation has completed you will see the following message window. 
Select the OK command button.

Step 3.

Your software is installed and ready to use. It’s well worth mentioning here, just in case you are like me and jump right into using new software without reading the instructions, when creating a petition for a new client you must start by assembling the file highlighted below named "Begin Process (Always begin here)". Once you have completed this interview and saved your answer file you will have the option to open additional forms using the same answer file alleviating the need to reenter information.

Final Installation Step.

The software installation location is "C:/Program Files/DIYD Legal Software - Washington" folder and a link added to your start menu. To run, click: Start | All Programs | DIYD Legal Software - Washington | DIYD Legal Software - Washington.

Your clients files will be saved in your documents folder: "Documents/HotDocs/Answers" unless you selected another option during the installation of HotDocs.

7/18/2011 Version 5.r DIYD Legal Software - Washington released.  Log in to upgrade.

4/06/2011 Child Custody program released.  Included free with the divorce module; therefore, if you own this module login and download the newest update.

3/07/2011 Update to the Adoption program allowing you to adopt more than one child using the same petition, motions, orders, etc. Also, major changes in the King County forms.

5/07/2010 Added a new stand alone calculator - Residential Schedule Cross Credit Worksheet.

5/03/2010 Adoption Software $99  or Free with the purchase of our Dissolution Software

2/28/2010 Added three new stand alone calculators to the Dissolution software allowing the user to calculate child support with minimum input for child support, Arvey method and Whole Family method.
